Resource: Video on Affirmations
Affirmations are one of those things that seem small, but can have a huge impact. Often when I bring up the idea of using affirmations with someone who is unfamiliar with them, I am met with skepticism - which is totally understandable! If you are someone struggling with negative self talk or have struggled to have a good relationship with yourself for a long time, someone telling you to say nice things that you don’t believe can sound unrealistic.
However, there really is science behind why using affirmations can be helpful. And affirmations can be rooted in some of the concepts used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which can help rewire automatic thought patterns.
Here is a video that I think can be really helpful in understanding affirmations, and why they work. It is about an 11 minute video from Dr. David Hamilton, and it is also a personal favorite.
Not to mention, his Scottish accent holds my attestations especially well compared to those other AI narrated videos out there :)
